VCs Take Even More Control of San Francisco, They Now Own the San Francisco 49ers
Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and founder of Khosla Ventures, is acquiring a 3.1% stake in the San Francisco 49ers (🔎). Bessemer Venture Partners (2.1%) and ICONIQ Growth (1%) are also involved in this transaction, which values the 49ers at a record $8.5 billion. Khosla's investment, along with those of Bessemer and ICONIQ, sets a new record for an NFL team valuation, marking the first time a team has been valued at $8.5 billion.
